How To Set Your Facebook User Name

When you create your business facebook account or even your personal account, the url isn’t very flattering. The url is what someone would type into the address bar of a browser to pull up your business. For example, if you start a new Facebook page for your business, then your business url will look something like this:

http://www.Facebook.com/pages/NameOfYourPage/382848409028374980930202

I don’t care what the name of your business is, this will not look good on a business card, promotional flier or even a Tweet. You need something that is much more marketable to your business and easy to remember. You actually want your clients and customers to be able to find you on Facebook. Therefore, you need to know the simple trick to set your Facebook User name. Just follow these steps below.

1) Establish Facebook Page

Go to http://www.Facebook.com/pages/create.php

2) Invite friends, family, customers, and clients

The goal is to get 25 people to “Like” your page. Once you have achieved 25 “Likes” on your  page, you can proceed to the next step. You cannot set your Facebook username without the mandatory 25 likes first.

3) Visit the Facebook Username Page – Go to http://www.Facebook.com/username

Once you check availability and it is available, you will get the pop over screen shown above. Facebook gives you a chance to confirm this is the username you want to actually use for your fan page. Facebook also gives you a few friendly reminders about fan pages. You can read them above, but one that you should pay close attention to is the first one. It says once you set this user name, it is impossible to change it, so be sure you really want it and it works for your business.

6) Click Confirm
