When it comes to successful entrepreneurs, they all have one thing in common. Successful entrepreneurs have the powers of observation working at their advantage. At first glance, it may not make any sense how these powers are benefiting them, but believe me they are.

How to be Successful Entrepreneurs

The power of observation gives you the ability to examine the marketplace to find what is missing. In business, this is referred to as the gap in the market. Market gaps create opportunity because this means that someone isn’t providing a particular good or service that will satisfy a segment of the marketplace that has identified this gap as something they would desire.

Being able to identifiy this gap, successful entrepreneurs are able to consistently make opportunities for themselves in order to make a way for their businesses and ideas. Being able to spot opportunity makes you valuable in any market because there is always opportunity around us. The key is for you to be aware of those opportunity.

What makes an Entrepreneurial Ideas great?

This is simple. The answer is if they work to solve a problem or not. If so, how big is the problem that they are solving, how many people are effected by these problems? Entrepreneurial ideas are measure by the value they bring to the marketplace.

You, being a customer in these marketplaces, have valuable insight into what is wanted, even need in a given area. If you want your entrepreneurial ideas to be great, then you just have to tap into that and create a business system that will satisfy those needs. That is it.

Business and entrepreneurship are not magic, it’s more logic. If you have something that will make peoples live easier, bring them happiness, or give them something they need, then you are on your way to producing the best entrepreneurial ideas.

If you are looking into starting a small business (yes, franching a business can apply), then you have come to the right place. We are all about small business around these parts. It is my opinion it is small businesses that make the world go round. Think about it, in the United States the majority of the population is employed by small businesses. That is a fact.

Therefore, it is small business that we must turn to lead us through in the future. So if you are starting a small business, then you are a hero, an employer and could be supplying the bridge to the future.

4 Tips on Starting Small Business

1) Always think about your customers first. This is the most important rule because your business is going to be customer base. They are the ones that bring in the revenue that you desire.

2) Stay on the cutting edge. Innovation is your friend when starting small business, not your enemy. There are so many times when someone goes into business with what they think is the right way, and end up resisting change. Not a good move.

3) Build your network. Business is a people sport. The more people you know, the more possibilities to reach new customers, new technologies, new opportunities for your business.

4) Be a problem solver. In all things that you do, be a problem solver. Don’t only solve problems for yourself, solve them for others. If you become known as a problem solver, people will bend over backwards to solve your problems, especially when you are starting a small business.

Even in this down economy, franchising a business is the dream of most small business entrepreneurs believe it or not. Understand, there are two ways to look at this topic of franchising a business. You could see it from the perspective of opening a business start up and beginning with an established chain that you purchase a franchise. The second way to see it is to build your own business from the ground up and then offering others a franchise in your business. The latter has to be the dream of every entrepreneur.

Franchising a Business

1) Buying a Franchise - If you have access to a couple hundred thousand dollars depending on the franchise you are looking to open, this is a very good way to start a business. You enter with immediate brand name recognition and assistance with from the parent company you purchased. Their support is invaluable in the growth of your business and future profit making ventures.

2) Building a Franchise to Sell - Imagine taking your idea from conception to selling individual franchises. That has to be the dream of entrepreneurs. Because it proves that your idea, business system works so well that you make money and can show other people how to do the same thing. It is amazing to think about and very possible, but you have to think about the business in this manner as if you are going to sell franchises in the beginning.

Opening a small business or franchiseing a businesses has got to be one of the most exciting feelings that anyone can feel or anything can bring about. There is nothing like dreaming about the possibilities, working working to make them a reality. It is a great feeling. There are some very important things to consider before doing so.

Opening a Small Business

1) Business Structure - Have you even considered what type of business structure you are going to start with your small business? This is a very important decision because it will effect your tax implications, reporting, and even dictate the type of protection you have from people trying to sue you. It could be a C-Corporation, S-Corp, Limited Liability, or even a sole proprietorship. The choice is your and you must examine the details carefully.

2) Who is your target market? If you cannot identify your customer in one or two precise sentences, then you don’t know who they are. This is a bad way open a small business. Take a moment and asked yourself what do they look like. More importantly, what do they need? And how can you deliver that better than everyone else?

3) How will technology play a part? By now, everyone understands the computer and technology are a large part of every business. We have to consider in the beginning how these elements are going to flow with your business. You have to integrate it early because once you have established legacy systems or bad legacy ideas, it might be too late and too costly to change.

The think about small business startups is that most don’t recognize three major areas they need to embrace from the start of their business. If small business startups listen to these three ideas they will have a chance of surviving past the first year of business and hopefully will past the three year mark.

Small Business Startup Suggestions

1) Customers First - This might be hard to believe for big bad entrepreneurs and small business owners, but the customer is first. They have to be first in everything that you do. You might think that your rise to claim your success, but that success is given by the customer. Your customers decided if you are exceeding value or if you are stealing money. Keep your thoughts with thing first and for most. For if you can satisfy your customers, they will gladly share their hard earned money with you day after day.

2) Generate a Start up Business Plan - First thing I will say to you is don’t worry about getting the 55 pound paper, beautiful business plan color, and specific outline to begin your business plan. Just let it flow out of you. Who are your customers? What do they want? And how will you give it to them better than everyone else? That is the crux of a business plan and many of them have been written on napkins at dinner or while out for dinner. You just have to want it, outline it in your own unique way, and go make it happen.

3) Embrace Social Networking - That is right. No matter what business you are startingup in, you must embrace social networking. It is everything for your success. And for the most part, social networking is free. Are you kidding me, there is a way to help your small business startups for free and you are not all over it. You should be fired! Get on it!

If you are planning on becoming a small business entrepreneur, there is one critical point that you must understand. If you don’t, you will wind up owning your job, instead of owning a business. Let me tell you, there is a big difference.

Most Small Business Entrepreneur

Most small business entrepreneurs believe they own a business, but the truth is something different. They actually own their job. Let me explain. If you wake up everyday and do all the things in your business from production, order taking, marketing, accounting, finance, human resources, collections, and more, then you do not own your business…you own your job. There is a big difference.

Yes, it is true. You don’t have a boss and your name is on the door. However, your clients are just looking at you as outsourced employees and not paying your taxes nor giving you health benefits. It is a good situations for them. You own your business that does this particular job for someone else and you are doing all of the world.

When Are you a Real Small Business Entrepreneur?

You don’t actually become an entrepreneur until there are other people in or out of your business that are doing the work for you. This is when you graduate from being self-employed to becoming a business owner. You got to love that moment and think about it constantly.

When you are developing your business and thinking about how things should run, you got to think about who else can do this better than me….and so that I don’t have to do it. It is critical to your grown and development. Let me tell you from experience, there is a difference.
