10 Reasons Your Business Needs a Website

uparrowThe year is 2009 and it still amazes me that all businesses don’t have a website. It blows me away when I get to thinking about the small business owners and entrepreneurs that are not taking advantage of all the Internet has to offer.

This think has led me to this point of wanting to produce 10 reasons your business needs and must have a website if you want to be successful in today’s economy and environment.

10) The Internet is 15 years old

If you stop and think about it, the Internet as we currently know it was formed and released for mass appeal in 1994, which makes the Internet only 15 years old. Think about that, if the Internet was a human, then it would be a teenager. This means that it has no where reach it’s full potential. This is obviously everyday as we see the rapid changes.

This means that the potential for your growth and use of the Internet is virtually unknown with massive possibilities. Get out front of the curve and get involved.

9) Branding

A website increases your opportunity to strengthen your branding as a company and further position yourself into the hearts of your market place. If you don’t have a website, you are throwing away a relatively easy way to reach your market and potentially make them love you a little more. Think about it. This is another opportunity for them to see your logo, learn your slogan, and get some practical and useful information from you directly.

8.) Exposure

Having a website offers you an opportunity to gain exposure from the world. Ok, your market might not be the entire globe, but it does afford you an opportunity for the world of your market one more route to explore your offering. Your market might be the 4 mile area around your business, but having a website gives them one more way to find you. And with more and more people going to the Internet before buying services, it is mandatory to have a website these days.

7) It’s Expected

Think about the perception that is put on businesses that don’t have a website in the 21st century. Most of your customers just expect you to have one. If you don’t, then your image is tarnished. Shouldn’t you have one, especially when they are so affordable and easy to maintain if they are done correctly. Naturally, we believe that Think Taylor is the way to go, but there are thousands of designers out there that can get them done at affordable prices because of the great technology that is available.

6) Increase Sales

People and your consumers are more comfortable making purchases today than they were in the mid 1990’s. This is great news for you if you are ready to make the transition to moving online. You can create a shopping cart that will allow your customers to purchase your products, even services via your online website. And none of this is extremely difficult to do. You should look into make this happen sooner than later.

5) Stay in touch with Customers

With Web2.0 technology built into your website, you are not only able to provide information to your customers, but you are able to interact with them as well. You can include options for them add comments to your articles and information, contact you through a contact form, even real time discussion, add a discussion board, and more. The point is there opportunities to get feedback from your current and potential customers which will prove valuable when moving forward with your business. That is what it is all about, learning, growing, and implementing this information into your business.

4) Increase your Social Media effectiveness

If the Internet is a teenager, then social media networking is an infant, but the possibilities are endless. But if you have a website, then this can enhance your social media efforts even more because now you have a place to direct your friends, followers, and companions to get more information and potentially make a purchase from your organization. This is what the Internet is all about, reaching new people, educating them and directing them to your sales and products page to get more from your base of knowledge and expertise.

3) It’s Scalable

You might have a small organization, but it is well conceived, organized and thought out, then the opportunities provided by a website can make your business a worldwide organization without adding much cost to your bottom line. This is truly a scalable opportunity for your business and you can literally reach the world. The Internet and websites have a way of erasing the excuses of the from the lips of the entrepreneurs around the world.

2) It’s affordable

It’s true. If you want to build a practical, useful, and professional website for your organization it can be done today for a few hundred dollars as opposed to a few thousand. This is big in the small business and entrepreneurial marketplace because this has not always been the case. But with the creation of services like Joomla and wordpress, website designers are able to offer high quality websites for business owners at affordable prices.

1) It’s Valuable

The fact that you can get something at an affordable price that is scalable, exposes your business to the world, increases marketing, sales, and branding of your business makes it an extremely valuable offering. There are not many things you can do to your business that will do all of these things, plus interact with your customer base, fulfill their expectations, and allow you take advantage of the 15 year old Internet all at the same time. 1. I couldn’t agree with you more. There’s a realtor in my area that I see signs for all the time and one day my wife wanted to check out their site to see what kind of info they have since we’re considering moving to a bigger place. She Googled it and came up empty. She had to look up their phone number and when she asked for their domain they said they didn’t have a web site. Even my wife said, “Are you kidding me?”

In this day and age there’s no excuse for even the smallest of companies to not have their own web site.
